They did say they'd keep me on file as they liked my CV and cover letter. And I did say I'd be prepared to start in 2010..
I'm expecting a similar reply from the other specialist engineering firms such as Buro Happold.. looks like I'll have to settle for plain old engineering or even unemployment! Joy!

Aw, shame! But at least you know what you want to aim for - next step is getting the experience you need in order to get there! Why not ring back and ask what they recommend you do in the next year to improve your chances for entry next year?

Good idea! It'll make me look extra keen.. I've come across a phd I think they might be interested in me doing so I'll see what they say to that.

It's a very established firm as ARUP, I think we have dealt with them in the past on some curtain wall projects.
